Andrew Simes is one of the few fortunate Christian families to have returned to Smyrna following the events of 1922. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to locating and researching the lost Greek Orthodox churches of Smyrna and the wider area between Aivali and Cesme. At times, he has found entire churches well preserved, while other times, only the floors survived. He has amassed a photographic collection of 73 churches throughout Turkey which he hopes will someday interest someone in Greece to exhibit them. Here is a sneak peek video of some of his work.
