Athanasios Parharidis was an historian, folklorist and writer with origins in Kromni (today Krom) situated approximately 15km north-east of Gümüşhane. He was the son of philologist Ioannis Parharidis who taught at the Preparatory School (Frontistirion) of Trebizond. Athanasios was born in Trabzon and studied at the Frontistirion. After the passing of his father, he wrote a book titled "The History of Kromni" and published it in 1911 using information collected by his father. Parharidis was also the author of a number of articles, plays and poems. After the exchange he settled in Athens and passed away there at the age of 58.
